Free QuizMaker can help you create online quizzes and surveys. It allows creating two types of quizzes: graded and survey. Graded quizzes support both graded and survey questions but survey quizzes let you use survey questions only. While the first type of quiz is intended for assessment purposes, the second is aimed to create questionnaires.
The program has a modern and intuitive interface. Creating a quiz is very similar to designing a PowerPoint presentation: instead of pages, you will be using slides containing the different questions as well as some media types, such as images, video and audio. Three types of questions are available: true-false, multiple-choice and multiple-response. Although these types are probably the most popular of quiz questions, you will probably feel the necessity to use other types, which are unavailable here. Additionally, in the case of graded quizzes, you are allowed to set different parameters as passing score and time limits. You can also set the program to use a randomized question order. A certain level of feedback can also be configured, and it includes showing a results screen, sending the results to a given e-mail address or opening a web page.
The resulting quizzes can be exported in several ways. First, you can simply export the quiz in SWF format, which can be easily imported by other applications or published in the web. Second, you can create a quiz using the SCORM 2004 format, which is readily importable by different learning management systems. Finally, you can create a printable version of your quiz by exporting it to Microsoft Word. The final version of your quizzes will have a very nice appearance, and there are even different themes to choose from.
In general, Free QuizMaker is a fine free application. However, there are some things that it will not allow you to do, like creating branching scenarios based on the answers provided by the user or setting result-based feedback for each question. Should you want to use these options, they are available in iSpring Quiz Maker, a paid application by the same developer.
